Laura and Drew were married on the beautiful private island of Figure Eight in late August in a sunset ceremony overlooking the Sound. We had the pleasure of working with Laura, Drew, and both of their families on this amazing event. Laura’s talented brother designed and drew the welcome gift bags and map of the area where the wedding festivities were taking place. The bags were filled with some good ol’ North Carolina items, including salt-water taffy and a UNC Tar Heel cookie.
The ceremony was filled with special moments. One of Drew’s close family friends married them. The meaning behind him officiating the wedding was touching, since he had seen Drew grow up and sang in men’s a cappella group with Drew’s dad. Although the forecast predicted rain, it quickly turned around as the boys came out in their gray suits and the girls in their navy blue gowns. The sun was brightly shining giving the tent a calming warmth, while Laura walked down the aisle with her dad.
Their personal details continued throughout the reception as well. As guests walked up to the front doors of the yacht club twinkling lights and hanging tissue poms welcomed them. Once inside the doors, they were able to sign the guestbook, which was surrounded by family wedding pictures. Even the menu for their wedding represented Laura and Drew. Fresh fried okra, sweet potato ham biscuits, sushi rolls, and carved steamship of beef and more brought both of their tastes together. Cheesecake bars, cupcakes, pecan pies oh my! Instead of having one large wedding cake, Laura and Drew decided to choose dessert items that they loved and the dessert bar was a huge hit with all the guests at the wedding.
The Fantasy Band kept everyone on the dance floor and the night ended with a boat exit!
I first engaged A Southern Soiree and year and a half before my wedding, and Megan and Gina were with me every step of the way from that point! You name it, they helped with it! I couldn’t have done it without them. In fact, I really don’t know how people plan weddings without a planner! They were my left and right hands! I found their services to be most helpful when selecting vendors and then the weekend of the wedding. They kept things running so smoothly that weekend, I never had to think twice about anything. Instead, I got to spend my time enjoying myself and soaking up every minute of it. What a huge help they were!!! Also, my wedding was on the coast, so 2 hours away from Raleigh. This was never a factor for them. They drove to Figure Eight Island several times throughout the year to meet with vendors, and I never once felt like their being in Raleigh was inconvenient. I would highly recommend Megan and Gina’s services to anyway who asked!!!
