Libby and Rusty!

Libby and Rusty were married this past October.  When we met in September 2012 for our initial consultation, one of the first things that was easily noticeable about this couple was how considerate they were of each others wishes for their wedding day.  Add in a great sense of humor and a big dose of kindness, and not only could you tell that they truly enjoyed being around each other; they made us want to be around them too!

Libby and Rusty had recently relocated to North Carolina, and they decided to hire A Southern Soiree to help with all the details of the planning process.  We knew they were looking for something unique and out of the ordinary, so we started our search for the perfect venue.  After visiting different places all around the Triangle, we finally found THE spot.  Libby and Rusty chose Fred Fletcher Park for their outdoor ceremony, followed by dinner and dancing at Humble Pie Restaurant in downtown Raleigh.  Humble Pie is really a great space and they serve some of the best food we have ever eaten at an event!  Although the space had a great foundation, it needed a bit of warming up. We added up-lighting around the room, hung white lanterns outside, and filled the space with beautiful potted plants, fragrant flowers, and tons of candles!  Perfection!

Many of the details for this wedding were hand crafted. The ceremony arbor was personally created by the groom (and did you know he got those tree limbs from Megan’s house!?).  Lots of hard work and sweat went into building it, but it was the crowning touch!

Libby and Rusty, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of such a wonderful day! We could not have asked for a more beautiful sunny day and cool night in October to have your wedding!  Also, a big thank you for this fabulous review on WeddingWire.

New to North Carolina my husband and I knew that we wanted a wedding coordinator to help us navigate the intimidating waters of wedding planning. After researching online, we set up a meeting with Megan. It took about fifteen minutes for us to know that A Southern Soiree was the perfect fit for us. Megan exuded confidence and experience and her demeanor was approachable and caring. We spent a year planning our wedding with Megan and Gina. They kept us organized and managed the details and timeline. Unlike the experience of so many bride-grooms we know, we can honestly say that we enjoyed the wedding planning journey (and are sad that it’s over!). We looked forward to our meetings with Megan and Gina and with our vendors. We always knew we were in the very capable hands of our planners and we trusted their advice.

The week of the wedding Megan and Gina were nothing short of incredible. They expertly managed ALL of our vendors and wedding details and were sensitive to the stress many bride-grooms and families experience as their very important event approaches. After the rehearsal (the evening before our wedding), Megan said if I needed anything that I could call her at any hour.

Saying that Megan and Gina went above and beyond on the day of our wedding doesn’t adequately describe their involvement/contribution. They managed the set up and break down of multiple sites with ease, juggling vendor drop-offs/pick-ups and independently making last minute adjustments. They catered to the needs of our family and guests and directed our wedding party. They carefully managed every bride/groom hand-off. We didn’t worry about a thing on the day of our wedding – unbelievable and priceless. We were happy and relaxed and could focus on enjoying the day and all of the small moments.

We would emphatically and without reservation recommend Megan and Gina, and A Southern Soiree, to anyone beginning their wedding planning journey.
