We are so delighted to share this cozy Fall engagement blog with you! Stewart and Sean will be saying “I Do” this coming July at one of our favorite venues in Durham, Bay 7! With a unique ceremony setup, Angus Barn’s delicious food, the Turtle Booth, and of course what Stewart and Sean are most excited about… their band – Emily Minor, we sure do have some great vendors that will make their wedding one for the books!
We asked Stewart and Sean some questions about their planning experience so far. Be sure to check out their answers as well as some images from their engagement session below! Thank you so much JAGG Photography for capturing the sweet love between these two 🙂
How did Sean propose?
We were visiting family in Key West and we (plus family) took a Seaplane ride out to the Dry Tortuga’s and Ft. Jefferson State Park. When we arrived we immediately went exploring the fort and Sean was very insistent on going up to the top level. I didn’t think anything of it but when we did make it up to the top he said “Hey babe, come over here” and my heart stopped. When I turned around he was down on one knee. It was really fast and I remember thinking I didn’t cry! But the moment he slid the ring on *cue the waterworks*. My brother and sister in law were in on it and standing close by to capture photos and video. After, we met back up with more family for champagne and snorkeling!
So far, what aspect of planning the wedding has been the most enjoyable?
Meeting with Florists! I wouldn’t have thought I would enjoy it as much as I did but it has been one of the meetings that has made it feel the most real. I really had to picture my wedding day when thinking about flowers. My Mom and Grandmother were able to join me along with Gina and I think that made it even more special to share it with them!
Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?
I would say to just really enjoy the planning and making the choices rather than focusing on what maybe you thought you wanted or had to have. It all has a way of working out and I surprised myself more than once with my choices that were so opposite of what I originally had in mind but I enjoyed how exciting it felt that that was ‘the one’ and tried not to stress that it wasn’t what I thought I would have picked.
What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
The entertainment! I am ready to dance!
What are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?
Romantic, Industrial, Elegant
What made you decide to hire a planner?
Because I know myself and I knew I would need someone on my side with knowledge of the area, vendors, and etiquette. I knew those three things would be my biggest worries. I have lived in the Triangle for a little over two years and still don’t know all the places right around me much less vendors. I have also made small special requests with a few vendors that without Gina I probably would have been too timid to ask for and I am really excited about them.
