We are so excited to share some incredible images from Rose and Christophe’s engagement session in downtown Raleigh. They are tying the knot this April at the unique 21C Museum Hotel in Durham! We have loved working with Rose, Christophe and their families and have some amazing details planned for their big day! Surprise guest officiants, beautiful linens, an awesome band, are just a few to name, but we can’t wait to see it all come together!
We asked Rose and Christophe to answer a few questions about their relationship and the wedding planning thus far! Take a look below to see what they had to say 🙂
Thank you Christobal with Azul photography for capturing these images!
How did you two meet?
We first met in August 2009 at NC State University, shortly after moving into our respective dorms on campus. Christophe had met one of my hall mates (and now bridesmaid) at orientation and she introduced us. Soon after meeting, we realized how easy it was to talk to each other and spent an entire night in late August sitting on a bench outside of Turlington Dorm chatting. It was clear to both of us that if we could talk to one person for 5 hours straight, there was something special going on. We became an “official” couple on September 11, 2009, when Christophe asked me around 11:30 PM at a themed fraternity party to be his “girlfriend”.
How did Christophe propose?
On February 13th, 2016, Christophe took me out to Fiction Kitchen (our favorite restaurant) for an early Valentines Day dinner. After dinner, we were driving home and I was confused why were heading onto NC State’s campus. Christophe then pulled into the exact spot where we spent talking on the bench outside of Turlington Dorm when we met. He asked me to marry him there! He says that he didn’t want to be too cheesy and ask on Valentine’s Day …so he just proposed a day before.
So far, what aspect of planning the wedding has been the most enjoyable?
Our two favorite parts have been touring the venues and for me going to try on wedding dresses. It was amazing to see the diversity of venues to choose from in the Raleigh-Durham area.
Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free during the planning process?
Every week I try to make a to-do list of what needs to get done. Whether that is making sure to look up invitations online or to look up shoes for my wedding dress. When I limit myself to one or two big tasks a week or month, it seems way more manageable. Plus, I have Gina…
What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
We are most excited about our friends and family having a great time! I think it will be all worth it when we are on the dance floor with our favorite people around us with a drink (or two in hand).
What are three words to describe the feel for your upcoming wedding?
Three words/phrases would be: 1) Art Deco 2) Modern Glam 3) FUN!
What made you decide to hire a planner?
We hired a wedding planner because they know the area best and have amazing connections. I am always astounded that Gina knows the right person/business to contact (as well as the best quality) for every step of the wedding planning process. We never have to spend time researching or wondering if something fits our theme, venue, or budget cause Gina already knows who/what would be best. Having a wedding planner has also made scheduling a breeze! Gina knows my schedule and makes appointments for me, and I never have to worry or spend too much time on it.
