Amanda is a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in communication and concentrating in public relations. As a child, Amanda and her twin sister Lauren would watch all of the wedding television shows and read all of the bridal magazines. Amanda quickly found that she wanted to be a part of weddings, realizing that marriage represented one of the most important decisions of life. A career in wedding consulting would make her dream a reality.
Aside from her love for weddings, she also loves her home in the Appalachian Mountains, her hound dog, music and singing, shopping, running, hiking, and watching collegiate and professional athletics. She is very excited about working with A Southern Soiree and cannot wait to get started with her career in wedding/event consulting.
We asked Amanda a few questions to get to know her better and here are her answers below:
Q: If you had to eat one food for a month, for all meals, what would it be?
A: I could eat Sushi for an entire month because it’s healthy and delicious. Also, there are so many different options that I could probably still get away with never having the same Sushi roll twice.
Q: What are 3 things on your bucket list?
- I want to travel to and have the real-deal sushi in Japan.
- I want to go on a cruise; Greece would be lovely.
- I want to travel to and eat a steak in Argentina, famed for its grass-fed livestock.
Q: What’s the most fun thing you’ve done in the past year?
A: The most fun thing I have done in the past year is vacation in Florida. I enjoyed sun-bathing by the pool and on the beach, a trip to Disney World, a few fishing adventures, and a beautiful beach wedding while there.
Q: Why did you choose to major in Communication?
A: An education in communication concentrating in public relations emphasizes the importance of the interpersonal communication skills and writing technique necessary for establishing and maintaining the mutually beneficial relationships between a wedding/event consulting business, its clientele, and its venders. It’s an ideal foundation for a career in wedding/event consulting.
Q: What are your career aspirations after college?
A: Upon graduating, I would love a career in event consulting because no two events are ever exactly the same, and each event would represent a distinct, unique experience. It seems life as an event consultant could never be ordinary or routine, and I love that.
